Debating on getting a Jeep Wrangler? Here are 4 reasons why you should
Oct 06, 2018
Before purchasing my first Wrangler, I couldn’t keep them out of sight. Everywhere I went, it seemed as if there was always a Jeep owner in the parking lot unconsciously trying to coerce me a purchase.
It took me experiencing this for a good eight months before I gave in and was subsequently buying a bunch a of Jeep Wrangler modifications for my vehicle.
If you’re like me, it’s imperative to do the maximum amount of due diligence possible before making a large purchase that’ll be integrated into your life for awhile, like a car. In those eight months, I spent at least a 3-4 hours every weekend learning everything I could about Jeep Wranglers, as well as the community surrounding it. While I admittedly ran across a few bits of information that was slightly concerning, the vast majority of reviews pertaining to Wranglers were absolutely glowing.
So, just for you guys, we’ve decided to compile the best possible reasons to pull the trigger on a new Jeep Wrangler. However, this isn’t an exhaustive list. Make sure to do your own research so you’re sure a Jeep is right for you and your needs. (We’re giving you a pretty nice head start though.)
Without further ado, here are your top 4 reasons for pulling the trigger on your first Jeep Wrangler.
They come in a variety of models
No amount of Jeep Wrangler modifications will make your off roader a sports car. That being said, it’s nice to have the option to at least make it look like one with the choice of 2 door, as well as 4 door options.
See, some people just naturally gravitate towards the coupe design on vehicles, myself included. They often look super sleek and can sometimes save you a little bit of gas mileage with the extra weight subtracted from the vehicle. Who doesn’t love to save a few cents at the pump? Anyone looking for that sporty, two door look will definitely find the perfect Jeep model that fits all their needs.
However, for some, a four-door vehicle is an absolute necessity. That may be due to kids, a desire for extra space, or even personal preference. Whatever the reason may be, Jeep has everyone covered in this regard.
Think about it – how many other car manufacturers make both two and four door variations of the same model? I came up with only two while writing this. I encourage you to go out and find some I missed! Let me know in the comments below.
While you may have discovered more than two makes and models manufactured in both body types, try your hand at the same search except this time focusing exclusively on off road vehicles.
Chances are, the result that’ll come up time and time again is the Jeep Wrangler. That’s because no other off-road vehicle is made in both 2 door and 4 door models
If you’re looking for something with the sporty 2-door look that can kill it on all sorts of terrain, a Jeep Wrangler is your only option – and a great option it is.
They are extremely versatile
There are a few reasons no other manufacturers make multiple style variations of their off-road vehicles. The main reason being lack of demand.
While many SUV’s usually shine in one area, Jeep Wranglers are perfectly suitable vehicles for both on and off-road purposes. You won’t see any Wranglers winning any awards for on road performance, but it’s nice knowing the serious off-road adventurer can decide to use his prized possession as a daily driver also.
People use their Jeeps for all sorts of tasks. Because of their low depreciation rate and high resale value, it’s possible to find a Wrangler anywhere you seek it out. From the snowy northeast, where Jeeps are used as a tool to get through the several inches of icy precipitation that plague the region every winter to the warmer climates, where, in addition to off-roading, Wranglers serve as the perfect summer vehicle. Drop the top, take the doors off, and go for a leisurely drive through the city playing your favorite tunes. Jeep Wranglers also can tow up to about 3000 pounds, making it perfect to get your family and friends out of any sticky situation they may encounter on the road.
I like to tell people that Jeep Wranglers are for everybody, and they truly are! With the capability to be used both on and off road, purchasing a Jeep is a very solid idea for most anybody.
However, if your Jeep is \ going to be used as a daily driver, only taking you to and from work, you may want to look into something else. The Jeep Wrangler has a ton of in-built features designed to do a multitude of tasks no other vehicle on the market can. You may get overwhelmed.
If you’re still stuck on Jeep, seek out new hobbies and adventures that you and your Jeep Wrangler can share! This will give you maximum use out of your vehicle and allow you to unleash the monster that it was designed to be.
They are 100% customizable
Earlier, we discussed being able to purchase a Jeep in a variety of different color schemes, body choices, and more.
What if I told you that the Jeep Wrangler brand also boasts one of the largest markets of 3rd party accessories and modifications?
Well, now you know.
What other vehicle can be turned into a full bed pickup truck with just a few hundred dollars? Not many.
While I wouldn’t advise towards modifying your Wrangler in that way, there’s customizable options for literally everything on this vehicle – from the head and tail lights, to the floor liners, grab handles, lift kits and more. If you there’s something you’re not 100% satisfied with on your car, chances are, somebody had the same thought process and solved your issue.
This really comes in handy when looking at Jeep Wrangler integrated storage options, which can result in slim pickings compared to traditional SUV’s. A great solution we found to this was XG Cargo’s Sportsman Line. This tool has everything you need to beef up your Wrangler’s storage accessories and provide you with enough space to take all the necessities with you on vacation or even just a day out adventuring.
The sheer customizability of the Jeep is what keeps fans coming back year after year. Every owner has gripes about their vehicle that they have to live with. For Wrangler owners, we’re just a quick Google search and purchase away from modifying anything and everything we need to make our Jeep the perfect car for us.
The Wrangler Family
Besides sports teams, car manufacturers have some of the most die-hard supporters of any industry out there.
Growing up, my parents were never really car savvy, but had a LOVE for all things Toyota and Lexus. By the time I hit 21, I had seen the Avalon, Camry, Corolla, 4Runner, Sequoia, Prius, and RAV4 in my driveway at one point or another. When my dad retired, he decided to spend a portion of his savings splurging on his and hers Lexus SUV’s for him and my mom. Needless to say, I was born into a Toyota family. In fact, I wouldn’t be surprised if there’s some sort of Toyota or Lexus vehicle waiting for me in our family will.
Unfortunately, I had to nip this in the bud when I got my first car, the notorious Jeep Wrangler.
As I mentioned earlier, Jeep Wrangler owners are everywhere. And I quite literally mean everywhere. You can find Jeeps in 6 out of 7 continents and over 75 countries worldwide ranging from Brazil to England to the United Arab Emirates.
Despite the brands massive presence abroad, the North American market remains the leader in Jeep sales. While this may not seem like a big deal as a new (or potential) Wrangler owner, this advantage is huge when it comes to aftermarket parts and mechanical help. I can’t even count the amount of times I’ve googled an issue that I was having with my vehicle and found multiple solutions instantly.
Chances are, any problem that you will ever face with your Jeep Wrangler has already been faced and solved by your Wrangler ancestors. Usually it’ll be something you can do with nothing more than detailed instructions you find online and some (wo)manpower. This will save you a lot time and effort trying to self-diagnose issues yourself.
Even if you’re not particularly technical when it comes to cars, or you find yourself dealing with a mishap that’d be better dealt with a trusted mechanic, you’ll pay a fraction of the cost servicing your Jeep Wrangler than you would most other vehicles. This is, In large part, due to the sheer abundance of Wranglers on the road, as well as parts available through a variety of sources both online and in auto parts distributors nationwide.
The loyal fanbase surrounding Jeep Wranglers was the first thing I noticed when I started contemplating purchasing one of these off-road beasts. Now that I’ve mentioned it, you’ll certainly start noticing them everywhere you go. When you purchase a Wrangler yourself, fellow owners will undoubtedly wave at you every time they pass in their vehicles - one of the more overlooked parts to joining the amazing Jeep Wrangler community.
